FCm Travel Solutions, the global corporate travel division of Flight Centre Travel Group (FLT) has agreed to acquire Travelplan Corporate Limited from the Abbey Travel Group.
Based in Dublin, Travelplan Corporate Limited already has a lengthy affiliation with FCm. Travelplan Corporate has been part of FCm’s global corporate travel network since July 2005, when it joined as a licensed partner.
FCm’s global network, which includes FLT company-owned corporate travel businesses and independent licensees, now extends to 88 countries.
FCm’s Global Leader Gregory Lording welcomed the new acquisition and said by making FCm Ireland a company-owned business, FCm and FLT were well positioned for future growth.
“This is a sound and strategic business move. FCm Ireland is a stable and profitable business that we are already familiar with and consider to be a good opportunity for business growth,” Gregory said.
“Ireland’s steadfast relationship with FCm’s global network ensures there are already very strong business synergies between the two companies and that we have a comprehensive understanding of their culture and processes.
“The team at FCm Ireland manages a growing portfolio of our multinational customers and works closely with FCm colleagues in Europe and across the network to service these customers.”
Gregory said Ireland’s operation would be closely aligned to FCm’s company-owned business in the UK. FLT’s UK corporate business leader, Steve Norris, said the acquisition opened up opportunities for organic growth and new business development.
“There is significant potential for developing greater ties between FCm UK and FCm Ireland, which ultimately will benefit both staff and our customers,” Steve said.
“The focus will be on building closer internal relationships and sharing business strategies to help improve our service and product offering for customers.”
FCm Ireland will continue to be run by longstanding Managing Director Valerie Metcalfe, who said she was looking forward to extending their relationship with FCm to the broader Flight Centre group.
“This is an exciting opportunity for FCm Ireland,” Valerie said. “To date FCm Ireland has run a very successful and award-winning travel business with a growing portfolio of national and multinational customers.
“This acquisition will enable FCm Ireland to leverage the strength and resources of a global travel company to further develop our overall offering for customers.”
