Spicers Hidden Vale

If you're looking for a peaceful escape for you and your team then Spicers Hidden Vale is the place for you. FCm's Marketing Specialist, Sarah Capon recently attended a two day offsite planning meeting at the property so we caught up with her to learn a little bit more about her experience at the conference and what she thought about Spicers.

Tell us a little about the property in general

Spicers Hidden Vale is located on a secluded mountainside with sweeping 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside. A leisurely one hour drive from the Brisbane CBD, this historic property ticks all the boxes for a team escape, small conference or client function.

What were the rooms like?

Spicers has rooms to suit all types of guests - our group was accommodated in individual rooms within one colonial cottage. The rooms were comfortable with period furnishings, country charm and direct access to the wraparound veranda offering views to the spectacular valley below.

How did the bathroom rate?

The bathroom was large and well-appointed with double rain shower, quality "Appelles" amenities and fluffy towels. Bathrobes and slippers were also available in the room.

Was there a conference room or other rooms/facilities that made it suitable for a corporate getaway?

Our team had access to the Grandchester Room for the two days of our stay. The space was perfect for our group of 15 and included projector screen, tea and coffee facilities, morning tea and plenty of breakout spaces.

The evening function for my group was held in The Barn, a rustic heritage building with bar, pool table, fireplace and dining area.

What other facilities were available on-site?

I would have loved more time to pamper myself at the day spa Spa Anise, explore the properties’ walking and mountain biking trails or hit the 4WD tracks. There were also two separate swimming pools on the property – of course there was also WiFi and all the expected creature comforts needed when away for a conference or meeting.

Did you enjoy the food?

The food at Spicers Hidden Vale was top notch with something to suit all tastes and a strong emphasis on local, seasonal produce.

Our group held an intimate "aussie style" barbeque dinner in the Barn which included a wide selection of meats and salads as well as some decadent dessert options. The wine choices were specifically selected to compliment the food being served.

Who would you recommend this property for?

Spicers genuinely caters for all types of travel experience from corporate team getaways and groups of friends to families, weddings and romantic escapes.

What's your overall rating out of 5 and any final comments

Overall I would give Spicers Hidden Vale 4.5 stars – I would be keen to go back to Spicers for a relaxing weekend away and would recommend it to anyone looking to escape the city for a weekend.
