Rydges Fortitude Valley is the latest gem in the hotel chain's crown and a great offering for leisure and corporate travellers alike.
Located in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, it is opposite the Royal International Convention Centre and Brisbane Showgrounds. Located close to the city – yet far enough away to be quiet and relaxing – it is an oasis of calm in an otherwise busy city and just a short walk from the bars and restaurants of Fortitude Valley.
FCM's Product Manager for Western Australia Carolynne Salisbury recently visited Brisbane for a small offsite meeting and attended the hotel in Fortitude Valley. She absolutely loved the hotel and shared her experience with us below.
Tell us about the Hotel
Having opened just last month in February, the hotel still has that new carpet smell and everything is clean and fresh. There is a signature restaurant, Six Acres, which offers "paddock to the plate" food and beverages; plus a more casual bar called the Paddock Bar, which offers an outside terrace with plenty of trees creating a relaxing space to unwind. There is a lap pool and gym onsite which are free to guests, plus undercover parking.
What were the rooms like?
The standard rooms are large and spacious. Again, everything is new and clean with room finishing in calming tones of brown, grey and white. All rooms offer Rydges 'Dream Beds' which are super comfortable, plus your choice of feather or foam pillows. Other room inclusions to note are the full blackout curtains, free WiFi, a large selection of TV channels, a minbar, plus tea and coffee making facilities.
The suites offer all of the above plus the added bonus of a separate lounge area, with a couch and separate desk. Offering more space and extra room to relax, the suites are generous in size and well decorated. There are finishing touches linking the property to the historical showgrounds and surrounding area in all rooms and public areas.
What was the bathroom like?
The bathroom was lovely and open with a walk in shower featuring a monsoon rain showerhead. The design is very fresh in grey and white tones with plenty of bench space for your toiletry bag and amenities. Hairdryers are offered in every room with power points available in the bathroom. The bathroom featured great lighting and amenities.
Was there a conference room and other rooms that made it suitable for a corporate getaway?
Yes there are three meeting rooms in the hotel which can be booked separately or opened up to create one large space, making this hotel suitable for small to large conferences, meetings or functions.
Did you enjoy the food?
The food was outstanding! I ate at the Paddock Bar one night where they offer a small choice of bar meals. I also had breakfast at the Six Acres Restaurant which was great and offered a really healthy selection of hot food, cereals, pastries, fruit and juices. The whole ethos of Six Acres is to "bring the country to the city", so the food is presented beautifully and was fresh and healthy.
We also had our meeting catered for and the food was equally outstanding. Fresh, healthy rolls and salads, fresh baked scones, fresh fruit and baked quiches, the food was fantastic.
Who would you recommend this property for?
I would recommend this property to corporate and leisure guests alike. With the hotel perfectly situated for access to the CBD whilst offering immediate access to the dining and entertainment destinations in Fortitude Valley, this hotel would be perfect for a business traveller or group wanting to get in some entertainment or dining in their evenings whilst being close to the city for meetings and appointments during the day.
What's your overall rating out of 5 and any final comments
Overall rating was 5/5. I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff were friendly and helpful and there is just a really nice vibe to the hotel. The area was quiet yet so close to everything, it was an absolute pleasure to stay here.
