FCM's parent company, Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) has formal structures and procedures in place in Australia to underpin its corporate social responsibility platform. For us, responsible travel means operating our business in a manner that respects the environment and wildlife, and benefits local people, their cultures and economies.
While FCTG has always endorsed responsible tourism and has sought to have minimal environmental impact, the company’s Board is committed to enhancing the company’s record in this important area.
FCTG is working to reduce office-related emissions by adopting a number of initiatives as outlined below. In most of its individual countries of operation, the company has also established direct links with environmental groups to provide customers with the option of offsetting emissions related to their personal and corporate travel.
We are actively working to reduce energy usage by:
- using sensor lighting in all head office locations andinstalling energy efficient lighting in new tenancy areas
- minimising after hours air-conditioning use and installing blinds to minimise cooling and heating costs
- installing energy-efficient multi-purpose devices to reduce the number of appliances in use and encouraging staff to switch off equipment when not in use
Recycling and Waste
We have taken significant steps to reduce its waste by:
- printing only when necessary, moving towards double-sided copying and ensuring recycling bins are accessible
- reducing packaging and using recycled, unbleached paper for printed materials
- making publications available online
- donating old computers and cell phones to charities for re-use
Flight Centre Foundation
The Flight Centre Foundation is Flight Centre Travel Group Limited’s charitable trust that allows the company, our employees and extended Flight Centre family to give back to our community. All staff donations are matched dollar-for-dollar by the company, which also offers a paid program for employees who want to volunteer their time to community charities.

FCTG is undertaking a company-wide project with the goal of aligning our current and future business practices with globally accepted principles of responsible travel.
For us, Responsible Travel means operating our business in a manner that respects and benefits local people, their cultures, economy and the environment. Our aim is to be able to clearly demonstrate that FCTG is committed to operating with integrity and respecting fundamental responsibilities in the areas of human rights, the environment, and social equality.
Our first step in this process is the creation of a Responsible Travel Charter outlining our company commitment to support and develop travel that respects the social and physical dimensions of the destinations that are part of travel experiences we deliver to our customers.
We are also a contributing member of the U.N. Global Compact. The UNGC is a United Nations initiative to encourage businesses worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, and to report on their implementation.
